Sumter County is currently seeking a Board of Equalization Alternate member This position will be responsible to hear and determine appeals from assessments and denials of homestead exemptions and to set procedures for the conducting of appeals set before the board. Qualified applicants should be 18 years of age; resided in the county for the last six months; not the holder of any elective office in the state or local government or held any such office within a period of two years preceding appointment; is not a convicted felon; owns real property located in the county, a high school graduate, not a member of a governing authority of the county or municipality, or a member of the board of education, member of the county board of tax assessors or employee or county tax appraiser.
