PUBLIC NOTICE
PUBLIC HEARING
A public hearing is scheduled for Thursday, June 11th, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. in the Sumter County Board of Commissioners Board Room at 500 West Lamar Street, Americus, Georgia with the Planning & Zoning Commission for the purpose of receiving citizens input and comments to discuss the following requests.
This meeting will be held in person.
2026-R-06-007: To consider a request from James Smith to rezone parcel number 1715-239-7 from a Mixed-Use Residential (R-2) zoning district to an Agricultural (AG) zoning district, along with a conditional use permit to allow the construction of a cell tower on the property.
2026-R-06-008: To consider a request from Leatherbrook Holsteins #3 LLC to rezone parcel number 1604-55-3, also known as 1146 A-B US Hwy 19 S, from a General Business (C-2) zoning district to an Agricultural (AG) zoning district.
2026-R-06-009: To consider a request from Leatherbrook Holsteins #3 LLC to rezone parcel number 1606-90-1, from a Rural Residential (R-R) zoning district to an Agricultural (AG) zoning district.
2026-R-06-010: To consider a request from Leatherbrook Holsteins #3 LLC to rezone parcel number 1604-55-32, also known as 1148 A-C US Hwy 19 S, from a General Business (C-2) zoning district to an Agricultural (AG) zoning district.
2026-R-06-011: To consider a request from Leatherbrook Holsteins #3 LLC to rezone parcel number 1604-55-4, also known as 1134 US Hwy 19 S, from a General Business (C-2) zoning district to an Agricultural (AG) zoning district.

2026-R-06-015: To consider a request from Sheryl Nichols to rezone parcel number 1604-55-1, also known as 1176 US Hwy 19 S, from a General Business (C-2) zoning district to an Agricultural (AG) zoning district.
2026-R-06-016: To consider a request from Robert Deaver to rezone parcel number 1604-55-9, also known as 1093 US Hwy 19 S, from a General Business (C-2) zoning district to an Agricultural (AG) zoning district.
2026-R-06-017: To consider a request from Ubaldo Gervacio to rezone parcel number 1604-55-7, also known as 1088 US Hwy 19 S, from a General Business (C-2) zoning district to an Agricultural (AG) zoning district.
Discussion of and recommendation for “Scrap Metal and Recycling Facilities” to be added as a Conditional Use to the Agricultural (AG) and Light Industrial (I-1) zoning districts.
The Sumter County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, June 16th, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. at the Sumter County Courthouse, Board Room, 500 West Lamar St., Americus, Georgia for the purpose of receiving public input on the preceding zoning request.
